Week #39 + #40
I had a nice week celebrating my birthday with friends. The first celebration was at a "Mexican" restaurant in Leipzig for Margarita Monday. I met up with some of my fellow Americans and coworker for cocktail casino, where you role a dice and the number you role is the price you pay for your margarita.
After that, I headed to Munich to celebrate the May festival, which is essentially a holiday welcoming in the spring. In Munich, this festival is celebrated the same way as Oktoberfest, where everyone dresses in traditional attire and goes to big beer tents to eat, drink, and watch traditional dances. The weather was perfect, so my friends and I had fun just sitting in the meadow and drinking.
From Munich I traveled to Innsbruck, Austria for my actual birthday. I spent two days there hiking in the Alps, doing a bike tour around the city, and enjoying some free cocktails. As always, I had a ton of fun in Austria and tried to soak up every minute of the culture and Austrian dialect as I could.
After my short trip, I headed back to Leipzig again. My fellow Americans took me out for sushi and beer as one last celebration.
Once back in town, I went back to work to be back with my birds. I came back to some exciting news that two chicks had hatched while I was gone!
I had an absolutely wonderful 22nd birthday and am happy to have been able to visit Austria one more time before leaving Europe.
